EMAIL SETUP: OUTLOOK EXPRESS

The examples in this tutorial use "mail.domain.com" as the POP and SMTP servers. When setting up your email account, use your Web site's domain name in place of "domain.com". For example, if your domain name is "joesgarage.com" then your mail servers would be "mail.joesgarage.com". Your email address would be "yourname@joesgarage.com".

1. Open Outlook Express, go to the "Tools" menu and click on "Accounts ".

2. When the "Internet Accounts" window appears, click on the "Mail" tab. Click and hold on the "Add" button, moving your pointer over the "Mail..." label and release the mouse button.

3. The "Internet Connection Wizard" dialog starts, begin filling out the information it asks for: First, the name you want to appear on all your emails you send to people.

4. Then enter in your email address.

5. Next, enter the email server information, selecting 'POP3' as your Incoming mail server, and adding 'mail.domain.com' as your Incoming/Outgoing SMTP servers. NOTE: Your ISP may require you to use a different outgoing SMTP server. Click here for more information.

6. Now, enter your username and password for your email account. Your username is your ENTIRE email address.

7. Click 'Finish'.

8. Now we are back to the "Internet Accounts" window, and you should see new account appear there (make sure you're still on the "Mail" tab if it does not):

9. Click once on the account you just created, then click on the "Properties" button. You will see a window appear titled "mail.domain.com Properties" that has many tabs along the top. Click on the one that says "Servers". Verify that your settings are the same as in the image below. NOTE: Your ISP may require you to use a different outgoing SMTP server. Click here for more information.

10. In that same window, click on the Settings button, then enter your Account name and password. NOTE: Your ISP may require you use a different SMTP server with authentication (log in information) instead of your domain. Click here for more information.

11. Click "OK" at the bottom to save your settings. Click "Apply" to apply your new settings and exit this screen.
