"History is not that which men do worthily, but what they do
successfully." ~ Henry Ward Beecher
Q5 Media was founded in 1998 when
Chris Queen and Charlie DeMarco
formed a new media agency that combined technical savvy and creative design into a single
unit in order to blend highly functional business applications with the latest
in digital media.
Over the next two years Chris and Charlie refined their vision by creating
a host of client tools and Web sites accompanied by print and multimedia assets that
were designed to symbiotically enhance traditional brick and mortar companies with affordable
global digital exposure. Their efforts were successful and helped companies like
Cheese and Wine Unlimited maximize their profit margins.
In December of 2000, the company expanded its skill sets by adding
Design Lead Jessica Brandt and Network Engineer
Larry Housel. At this point, a company
of only four people was able to leverage its intense work ethic, and close working
relationships to offer high impact solutions for small- and medium-sized businesses.
By 2001, Q5 Media had caught on in the corporate sector and was creating
Web-based applications for larger companies as well as continuing its relationships
with existing clients. Q5 Media had its first major software release in January 2001
with MailDirect, a full-scale HTML bulk email newsletter program. Within three months,
several corporations and state government agencies were deploying the application.
The success of MailDirect gave Q5 Media the opportunity to delve into new technologies
and strategies. In late 2001, the company hired Macromedia Director guru Eric Coker
to program and design the 'Find the Right Light' kiosk application for GE Lighting.
In 2002, Q5 Media added several international corporations to it's
client list. The company also began to offer complete hosting solutions to further
vertically integrate its stable of services and became a single-source, full-service
business solution. In January 2002, Q5 Media redesigned MailDirect by adding capabilities
and a new user interface and re-released it as Arrow 4.0.
The future for Q5 Media offers endless possibilities. As the company continues to grow
so does it's technological and design capabilities. At the same time, Q5 Media refuses
to lose its bearings as a grass-roots company. Client relationships and customer
satisfaction will always remain the company's top priority.
